You will be assigned to a grant writing group with a dedicated faculty mentor. Groups will be confirmed and listed here once allocations are finalised.

Working in your assigned group with a faculty mentor you will prepare and present a grant proposal on the final day of the course.

A briefing meeting will be held and you will meet each other virtually. We encourage you to stay in touch and discuss your project before the course.

You will have dedicated periods to work on your grant during the course. On the final day you will present your grant to a panel of judges. You will be given 8 minutes.

Professor Clive Gray will give a presentation on the best ways to approach and write a grant. He will also outline the grant writing exercise during the in-person course and what you need to do.

In this meeting you will split into your grant writing groups in break-out rooms. You will also meet your mentor for grant writing. You can discuss how you would like to stay in touch (e.g. WhatsApp) and how you may want to approach your grant presentation as a team.

In this meeting Professor Tracey Lamb will give you some direction on how to write a specific aims page. You will also discuss what a testable hypothesis is and identify what makes a good set of specific aims versus a bad set of specific aims.

You will be asked to present a poster during the course. Review your submitted abstract and prepare your poster materials in advance.
