Diabetes Risk in HIV positive children

Researchers from the University of California, have found that children on certain combinations...


Researchers from the University of California, have found that children on certain combinations of HAART do not develop hypercholesterolaemia.  This is the opposite to what happens in adults on the same combinations of HAART. However, they found that children do show an increase in insulin resistance which raises their risk of developing diabetes. The research is also aiming to understand what the risks are for children developing heart disease and how treatment can be improved to prevent this from happening long term.
